Cath O'Connor is of counsel to the firm, which she joined in 2006. Ms. O'Connor represents municipal clients as general counsel and as special counsel for particular issues, advising municipal boards and officials in all areas of municipal law, including land use, taxation, environmental, contracts, real estate, employment, ordinance drafting, appeals and legislative relations. She also advises individual or business clients in the areas of municipal, land use, zoning, environmental and administrative law. She advises public and private sector clients in employment law, including due process, wage and hour issues, discrimination and the development of employment policies and procedures.
She has been town attorney for several Maine municipalities, most recently as in house counsel to a coastal community in Southern Maine. Previously, she was a shareholder in a large Portland firm. She is a member of the Land Use and Municipal Law and Employment Groups.
Ms. O'Connor has served as co-chair of the Municipal Section of the Maine Bar Association and on the boards of the Maine Civil Liberties Union and the Maine Women's Fund. She has been on the faculty of numerous Maine State Bar Association Continuing Legal Education programs.
Ms. O'Connor resides in Portland with her husband and two children.
