A member of both the Maine and New Hampshire bars, John Upton is Perkins Thompson's President. He advises both small and large businesses in all facets of their operations. He has extensive experience in the sale and purchase of businesses, the petroleum industry, bank financing, venture capital transactions, negotiation of contracts, and general business advice. Mr. Upton is a shareholder and director and is the immediate past President of the firm. Mr. Upton was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2008 (copyright 2007 by Woodward/White, Inc. of Aiken, S.C.), in the field of Corporate law. Mr. Upton is AV Peer Review Rated for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability by Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Upton also is listed in New England Super Lawyers 2007 in the field of Business/Corporate law.

Mr. Upton is a past member of the Maine Bar Association's Board of Governors and has served as Vice President and trustee of the Portland Museum of Art. Nordic skiing is a particular passion. He is the immediate past President and current Board Member of the New England Nordic Ski Association, and co-founder of Cape Nordic, a community-based ski club.

Mr. Upton is married to Anne Stockmar Upton and lives in Cape Elizabeth.
