Tim Benoit provides legal services to assist individuals and entities create and maintain successful for-profit and not-for-profit business enterprises. He has been involved in major merger and acquisition transactions as counsel to either the acquiring or the acquired entity. In addition, Mr. Benoit provides estate planning to individuals and integrates his business practice with his estate planning practice to assist clients develop an orderly succession plan for their businesses.

Mr. Benoit is a shareholder and director of Perkins Thompson and a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He has been selected by his peers to be included in The Best Lawyers in America 2008 (copyright 2007 by Woodward/White, Inc. of Aiken, S.C.), in the field of Tax Law for Maine. Mr. Benoit is AV Peer Review Rated for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Benoit is a member of The American Bar Association Tax Section, and served as a participant in the ABA Comment Project – Proposed Regulation under Sections 704(c)(B) and 737 (2007), and a participant in the ABA Comment Project – Proposed Regulations on Partnership Equity for Services (2005). He is a member of the ABA Partnership and LLCs Committee. Mr. Benoit was a member of the Maine State Bar Association’s Partnership Law Review Committee – Revision of The Maine Partnership Act (2004-2005), and is a member of its Membership Benefit Committee.

Mr. Benoit has served on The Maine Audubon Society Board as a Member and as President, on The Wayside Soup Kitchen Board as a Member and as President, and on the Maine Childrens Cancer Program Board.
