Melissa Murphy is a shareholder and director of Perkins Thompson. She began her practice by concentrating on all matters pertaining to real estate acquisition, ownership, development and financing, with a special emphasis on legal issues pertaining to condominium, timeshare and mixed-use projects and affordable and other specialized housing. As the clients she works with have grown and expanded their core businesses, her practice has grown with them and now includes advising both for-profit and non-profit real estate owners, developers and lenders as to their governance and operations relating to matters extending beyond their real estate holdings.

Ms. Murphy has been recognized in Chambers USA as a leading real estate practitioner in Maine and is AV Peer Review Rated for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability by Martindale-Hubbell.

Publications/Seminars

Ms. Murphy has presented numerous seminars on condominium, affordable housing and general real estate matters, including several Maine State Bar Association programs on condominium law.

Achievements/Service

Ms. Murphy is a past Chair and current member of the Scarborough Housing Alliance, a past member of the Town of Scarborough Open Space Committee, and a past Trustee and Secretary of the League of Women Voters Education Fund. She also was the incorporator and a founding Board member of the Scarborough Education Foundation.
