Summary and Legal Practice
Paul Pietropaoli is a shareholder and director of Perkins Thompson and is the current Chair of the Firm's Real Estate Department. Mr. Pietropaoli’ s practice focuses on a wide range of real estate matters, including commercial, industrial and residential real estate transactions. For over fifteen years, Mr. Pietropaoli has worked extensively with owners of commercial and industrial properties, individual residential and commercial land owners, real estate brokers and real property managers, and many businesses through the region in the successful sale, purchase, development, and leasing of properties. In addition to negotiating real estate transaction documents, he regularly advises clients on real estate, land use and environmental matters during the due diligence phase of mergers and acquisitions, in both asset and stock transactions. Mr. Pietropaoli also practices in the area of brownfields redevelopment, where he regularly works with clients to minimize their liability risk. He also advises clients on entity formation and general business matters.

Mr. Pietropaoli is a member of the American Bar Association, the Maine State Bar Association and the Cumberland County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, and New Hampshire, and with the U.S. District Court for the District of Maine.

Mr. Pietropaoli has been selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America 2012 (copyright 2011 by Woodward/White, Inc. of Aiken, S.C.), in the field of Real Estate Law for Maine, and has been recognized in Chambers USA as a leading real estate practitioner in Maine. He is Peer Review Rated for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability by Martindale-Hubbell. Prior to joining Perkins Thompson, Mr. Pietropaoli served as a law clerk to Hon. Caroline D. Glassman, Associate Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Pineland Farms, Inc. He has also served as an instructor for the Maine chapter of the American Institute of Banking as a volunteer coach for youth soccer and youth lacrosse.
