Randy Creswell is a shareholder and director of Perkins Thompson. His practice focuses on bankruptcy and creditors and debtors rights, and he represents various parties in a wide range of insolvency proceedings and workouts. Mr. Creswell serves as counsel to numerous financial institutions and national banks, secured and unsecured creditors in bankruptcy cases, Creditor Committees, and Chapter 7 and 11 debtors. He also has extensive experience representing Chapter 7 trustees in bankruptcy cases, as well as receivers in receivership proceedings. Mr. Creswell has provided counsel to executives and other corporate officers in their personal capacity in relation to corporate insolvencies, and he has prosecuted and defended scores of preference, fraudulent transfer, and other avoidance actions, as well as nondischargeability actions in Bankruptcy Court.
In 2009, 2010 and 2011, Mr. Creswell was selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law. Since 2009, New England Rising Stars has included Mr. Creswell for his work in the field of Bankruptcy and Credit/Debtor Rights, and Chambers USA 2011 describes Mr. Creswell as a highly regarded bankruptcy lawyer, noted for being thorough, hard-working and detail-oriented. Since 2008, Mr. Creswell has served on the Local Rules Committee for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maine, and he also presently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Portland Public Library. He is a past President of the Cumberland County Bar Association, and he has served as the Planning Chair of the Turnaround Management Association, Northeast Division.
Immediately prior to joining the firm, Mr. Creswell served as a law clerk for The Honorable Gene Carter and The Honorable David M. Cohen of the United States District Court for the District of Maine.
Mr. Creswell has presented numerous seminars on issues in bankruptcy law, most recently at the 2011 Northeast Bankruptcy Conference for the American Bankruptcy Insititue. In years past, he has presented at the Judicial conference of the United States District Court for the District of Maine, for the Family Law Insititue Section of the Maine State Bar Association, and on behalf of the Cumberland County Bar Association.
