Opportunities for Lateral Attorneys

Perkins Thompson has been providing legal services to U.S. and Canadian businesses, institutions and individuals for nearly 150 years.  Although rooted in Portland, Maine, in 2019 the Firm combined with the Maine Center for Elder Law, a highly regarded elder law, trusts and estates, and special needs planning practice based in Kennebunk, Maine. The Firm now maintains offices in both locations.

Our team of 25 attorneys have core practices that include corporate and nonprofit, labor/employment, litigation, estate planning, financial services, real estate, hospitality, construction, land use and environmental, immigration, and intellectual property law.  The firm has historically focused on New England and Canadian clients, but with growing national and international client bases, we are interested in recruiting experienced lawyers from any U.S. jurisdiction.

Our firm offers attorneys an attractive platform to build their own practices – large enough to provide ample resources for growth, but a welcome change for attorneys who may be coming to us from BigLaw firms in larger cities.  Ideal candidates have a portable book of business and are interested in growing their practice at a medium-sized firm.  We encourage women attorneys, attorneys of color and LGBTQ+ attorneys to apply.  It’s a terrific time to practice law in Maine, and we hope you’ll join us.
